This year I’m having the chance to tour around different international conferences I’d never been to before. First, it was Photonics West in San Francisco (USA), a few months later OPTICA Biophotonics in Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA), and this summer it was time for OPTICA ImageSense in Maastricht, the Netherlands, where I had the chance to serve on the scientific committee and as a session chair for the Imaging Systems and Applications (IS) track. I was also a presenter with the oral talk “Influence of Overlaying Layers on OCT Speckle Statistics: A Bi-layer Phantom Study” which I co-authored with Maria Miażdżyk from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Wroclaw, Poland). In this work, we characterized bilayer phantoms with confocal microscopy, spectrophotometry, and OCT to better understand how multilayer structures affect OCT speckle analysis.
Maastricht is a small but cute town close to Belgium and Germany, and it has some interesting places, such as a bookshop and café inside a church!
