Oh, ARVO. The conference par excellence in eye research. A full week of morning-to-evening sessions entirely dedicated to vision science and ophthalmology. Researchers from VISIONSAFE participated in ARVO 2026, held in Denver, United States. It was our first ARVO as a team and, despite visiting in early May, we were surprised by unexpected snowfall in Denver.
The meeting is probably one of the best places in the world to spend an entire week talking, and thinking, about eyes. The days are long, the convention center endless, and the scientific program so packed that choosing between sessions sometimes feels impossible. But beyond the science, ARVO is also about the people: reconnecting with colleagues you only see once a year, finally meeting collaborators in person, and randomly running into familiar faces while rushing between posters and coffee stands.
ARVO is as exhausting as it is exciting. By the end of the week, everyone is tired, overstimulated, carrying too many pens and surviving on conference coffee, but also leaving with new ideas, new contacts, and renewed motivation. We are already looking forward to the next edition in San Diego.
