The Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (EMBC) is a IEEE conference that this year was organized in Berlin (Germany). This was my first time in the conference and also the first time representing POB. I presented a poster entitled ‘Detecting keratoconus based on statistical modelling of light intensity distribution of Scheimpflug images’. In this work we introduced a new methodology to ‘look inside’ the corneal tissue in vivo. We found that the combination of macro and microstructural corneal parameters has the potential to become a powerful tool for detection of corneal diseases. Details are available in the corresponding journal publication here (open access).
